Date of Observation: November 14th, 2024
In this lesson, students have time to work on their upcoming PBL presentations. Afterwards, they will present to each other in their groups, where one group will listen and score their rubrics, while the other one presents. Then, they will rotate, and the other group will do the same.
Date of Observation: December 5th, 2024
In this lesson, the students had a station warm-up, in which they calculated velocity. The students learned this equation the previous block. Afterwards, they continued with a velocity version of the MatchGraph lab. Utilizing motion sensors, the students move a whiteboard back and forth to match their velocity to the graphs provided on the software.
Date of Observation: November 19, 2024
In this lesson, the students started their MatchGraph lab. Utilizing motion sensors, the students move a whiteboard back and forth to match their position to the graphs provided on the software.
Date of Observation: January 21, 2025
In this lesson, the students finish their Incline Plane Lab. This involves students finishing up their graphs for position and velocity versus time, looking for the line of best fit, percent error, and writing their conclusion.
Date of Observation: January 14, 2025
In this lesson, the students started their Incline Plane lab. Utilizing video cameras, the students record a cart falling down a track to analyze the position and time of the cart and find velocity from these extrapolated data points.
Date of Observation: March 6, 2025
In this lesson, the students started learning about Newton's 3rd law of motion: every action has an equal and opposite reaction.
Date of Observation: February 27, 2025
In this lesson, the students started their Earth's Gravity lab. Utilizing spring scales and brass masses the students record different readings of the spring scale against different masses and begin to plot this data on a graph.
Date of Observation: April 21, 2025
In this lesson, the students reviewed for the California Science Test, a standardized test that explores the concepts of the NGSS framework. Students reviewed different science topics, including biology, chemistry, and physics, all in different manners.
Date of Observation: May 1, 2025
In this lesson, students did an inquiry about electromagnetism. Namely, how magnets work and how we can understand the invisible forces that are electromagnetic forces.
Date of Observation: February 27, 2025
In this lesson, students watched a demonstration and made predictions and inquiry about a phenomenon. Then, they took notes about the properties of waves.
Date of Implementation: February 27, 2025
In this lesson, the students learn about different wave properties, the electromagnetic spectrum, and case studies surrounding radiation. They synthesize their learning, along with additional research, into a PSA brochure final project to give to their community.
